Hospice

Founded in 1985, Maryland’s Hospice of Queen Anne’s County, uses a team approach to serve individuals, families and the community with comprehensive, professional, and compassionate end-of-life care and bereavement support. Over the years, Hospice of Queen Anne’s has served over 1,500 patients and over 4,200 family members in bereavement. It currently tends to nearly 200 patients and 400 bereavement clients per year.

Hospice of Queen Anne’s serves any Queen Anne’s County resident who has been diagnosed with a terminal disease and whose prognosis is no more than about six months, regardless of age or illness. However, there are hundreds of local Hospice organizations established in other communities throughout our nation. Hospice of Queen Anne’s has a dedicated team of over 30 professionals and 250 volunteers are committed to serving those who are terminally ill. They support and make possible their desire to remain at home, to be pain free, comforted and cared for, and to be surrounded by their loved ones. Hospice care is specifically tailored to meet each patient and family’s unique needs and wishes.

“Hospice in any community is a blessing for those who are suffering. My family and I have been fortunate enough to have the guidance and care from Hospice during the loss of two of our family members. The principal comfort they provided to the loved ones we were losing, and the bereavement counseling that allowed us all to handle our loss with dignity were of utmost importance during that time. There are so many emotions that surface and a myriad of decisions that need to be made – it can seem overwhelming. It was calming to have Hospice hold our hands and provide guidance through it all.” – Ann Ashley
